Purchases
will NOT be accepted after MAY 15th!
Fees from
the sale of stallion services are used as guaranteed added money to
benefit each individual state/region which holds a Stallion
Incentive Fund Class. To be eligible to compete in the SIF classes
all horses must show an Incentive Fund License. The License may be
purchased on line at www.nsba.com or through
the NSBA office. Only licensed horses sired by a sold stallion in
the competition year are eligible.
The Incentive Fund
License fee is $100 for foals as of 12/15 of their weanling year and
$200 for foals after 12/15 of their weanling year until 12/31 of
their yearling year. Horses foaled in 2008 and after must be
licensed by 12/31 of their yearling year to be eligible for
participation in the Stallion Incentive Fund programs. Horses foaled
between 1985 and 2007 are eligible for licensing for a $200 fee,
until 2011. The SIF classes available
are: Two-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure $1000 added, Three-Year-Old
Non-Pro Western Pleasure $500 added, and Three-Year-Old
Open Hunter Under Saddle $1000 added. These classes are listed
beginning in the July issue of The Way To Go and also on
www.nsba.com. The entry fee is $75 payable on the day of the show.
Owner and exhibitor must be current members, no show passes are
allowed.
Should
more than one show in a state/region apply for the NSBA Stallion
Incentive Classes, the show held by an NSBA affiliate association
will have precedence over the other applying shows from the same
state.
In addition to the
Stallion Incentive Fund classes, all licensed horses, sired by sold
stallions, will be eligible to earn NSBA Incentive Fund points based
on Dual Approved shows earning cash value. Payout for Dual Approved
points will be based on the purse of the donated and sold Stallion
Incentive Fund sires for the current year. On a study of the past
two years, NSBA points would be valued at $80 per point. The
Stallion Nominator will receive 10% of the earnings of offspring in
the Dual Approved payout. The Foal Nominator will receive 10% of
the earnings of the foal in Dual Approved payout. The foal owner
will receive 80% of the earnings in Dual Approved payout. [Nominate]

Any stallion not
enrolled and sold in the SIF Program prior to 2008, may, for a fee
of $600 per year, enroll into the program, making offspring from
each year enrolled eligible for SIF classes and licensing. For
offspring of the stallion to compete in the 2 and 3 year old SIF
classes, the grandfather clause stallion nomination form must be
submitted by the May 15th deadline and the stallion must
be nominated and sold in the SIF program for the competition year. [Enroll]
a stallion for prior years.
What
does the stallion owner get?
The stallion’s two
and three year olds should have enhanced value because they will be
eligible to compete in all of the Stallion Incentive Fund Classes
held in the current year throughout the nation. NSBA advertises
participating stallions in their magazine, The Way To Go
as well as NSBA.com. In addition, the stallion owner
can designate one free entry by their stud, which is eligible to
compete in Stallion Incentive Fund Classes in the current year and
pay only the administrative fee of up to $15 to each show. Upon the
sale of the breeding, the stallion owner receives an NSBA membership
and magazine subscription for the remainder of the current year.
With the new division of the SIF program, stallion owners will
receive 10% of the earnings on the Dual Approved points. These
points will continue long after the 2 and 3 yr old year, giving
continual cash rewards for stallion owner’s participation in the
program.
What
does the mare owner get?
A bargain breeding, for sure! In
addition, the resulting licensed foal from the breeding is eligible
for a “free entry” to all NSBA Stallion Incentive Classes as a Two
and Three year old as long as the sire is a sold breeding in the SIF
program for the year of competition. The show office may charge an
office fee of up to $15 per SIF class entry. Also, the foal
nominator will receive 10% of the earnings from Dual Approved
points. These points will accumulate during the entire show career
of the foal. Payout for Dual Approved points will be based on the
purse of the donated and sold Stallion Incentive Fund sires for the
current year.
